Course Description
An abnormal blood result lands in your inbox. Can it wait? Does it need repeating? Does it need further investigation, or is this something you really cannot afford to miss?
Interpreting abnormal blood results is an everyday part of primary care, but knowing what is significant, what to investigate and when to refer isn’t always straightforward. Join us for our 3-hour Abnormal Blood Results Course, designed to give you a practical, evidence-based approach to some of the abnormal results we commonly encounter in general practice.
We’ll cover:
- Haematology - iron deficiency anaemia, neutropenia and lymphopenia
- Biochemistry - hyperkalaemia and hyponatraemia
- Abnormal liver blood tests - understanding abnormal results and knowing what the next steps are to take
- Lipid abnormalities - including hyperlipidaemia, familial hypercholesterolaemia and hypertriglyceridaemia
- Hyperprolactinaemia - reviewing the causes, when to investigate, how to manage and when to refer
Using practical clinical scenarios and the latest evidence, we’ll help you develop a clear and confident approach to interpreting abnormal blood results, identifying the patients who need further investigation and recognising the results that require more urgent action.
The webinar will be carried out as a morning session on Thursday, 5th November 2026, starting at 9:30 am and finishing at 1 pm. Don’t worry if you miss something; all of the content will be available on demand.
