How do I reset my password?

Accepted Answer

If you need to reset your password for any reason, then you can do so from your account by logging in and clicking on the ‘Update my password’ option on the Account Overview page.
If you have forgotten your password then you can request a reset of your password by going to the Forgotten password link on the Login page.  Enter your email address and then click ‘Send’ to initiate the password reset process.  You will receive an email so just follow the instructions on the email to reset your password.

Why is my account not opening when I try to log in?

Accepted Answer

If you are having issues logging into your account, have you tried on more than one device/browser?  If not, please try to do so as the issue could be device/browser specific.  If you can login on another device/browser then it may be worth clearing the data cache on the original browser.
The process to do this is easy to do but can differ slightly on different internet browsers.  Here are the instructions for the most popular web browsers:

How do I upgrade to NB Plus?

I have an NB Plus Subscription and am unable to find a pdf version of the online booklet to download – why?

The NB Plus subscription does not include the PDF version of the online booklets.  You would need to have purchased the physical version of the book to receive access to the PDF version.As an NB Plus subscriber you are entitled to purchase the physical course reference books at a discount via the upgrade option in your account.  The link to do this will appear in the Overview page in your NB Dashboard account.

How do I access Hot Topics Takeout?

Hot Topics Takeout is a new podcast series exclusively for NB Plus users and can be found in your NB Dashboard account, by clicking the Hot Topics Takeout section you will then see the most recent Podcast Series.
Once you have accessed the Hot Topics Takeout  you would like to listen to,  you will need to click the ‘Generate RSS URL’ button before you are able to listen to the podcasts.  This generates an RSS(Really Simple Syndication) link specifically for you, which is just a link allowing you to automatically receive any future podcasts on your device).
Once the RSS link has been generated you can then play the episodes through the NB Dashboard.
Prefer to listen to the podcasts on your mobile device's podcast player?
The RSS link will also allow you to add the podcast to your preferred podcast player on your mobile device. Instructions on how to do this can be found here or by clicking ‘How do I use my custom audio RSS link on my iOS or Android device?’ on the Hot Topics Takeout page.If using the Apple Podcasts app for example then after following the instructions on how to add the podcasts to your devices podcast player you should see the Hot Topics Takeout & all of its episodes in your podcast player like below…

How do I download my Certificate?

You find all of your CPD certificates for any work completed on the NB Medical Dashboard including course days, webinars or CPD modules in the My CPD section.You can filter the My CPD section to locate your CPD Items easily.  If your CPD Item contains a certificate then this can be located in the ‘Documents’ section of the item.  Just click on that option, and you can then download the certificate, or any other documents attached.You can also now quickly locate your CPD certificates on the NB Dashboard Overview page as shown below.
You can then filter by date if required but the latest certificate will be shown at the top of the list.

How do I access my BLS and Safeguarding and Child Protection modules?

You can access the Basic Life Support & Safeguarding and Child Protection modules in the NB Dashboard account on desktop or mobile devices.

Can I search for a particular topic from a booklet?

Accepted Answer

A quick video guide to searching for a topic within the NB Dashboard.
Yes.  In your NB Dashboard account, you can use the Search by Subject box at the top of the screen to search for topics in any of your available books like the below search example for ‘Headaches’.
You will then see a list of all related content for that subject available to you, as shown below for the above example.
When you are in a book already you can search that book for specific content by using the ‘Search This Book’ option shown as a magnifying glass icon on the right hand side as shown below.
DOWNLOADING THE BOOK PDF
As shown in the above image, if you have purchased a course, webinar or book package which includes the paper version of the course reference book then you can download the PDF while you are reading the book on the Dashboard or via the NB Dashboard Online Booklets section.  When in the Books section of the NB Dashboard then just click on the details button for the book you would like to download the PDF for and then a pop-up will appear on the right-hand side of the screen with an option to ‘Download PDF’.Please note that you need to have purchased the physical copy of the book as part of a package to download the PDF version.
SEARCHING THE PDF
See the below image showing you the options available to help navigate the PDF including a link on all Contents page lines direct to that topic within the PDF. Also, there are navigation buttons at the bottom right-hand corner of each page including the next page, previous page & Back to the Contents page buttons.You can also search the whole PDF using your PDF viewer's search/find function.  To bring up the search/find box press Ctrl + F on a Windows device or Command + F on a Mac.

How do I manually add a CPD item to the CPD Tracker?

To add a CPD item manually to the My CPD section all you need to do is click on the ‘Add CPD Item’ button on the My CPD screen as shown below…
You will then be presented with a pop-up input screen where you can enter details on the item title, date, type, and amount of CPD credits as well as any reflective notes you wish to make against this piece of CPD learning. 
You can also attach any documents that you wish to evidence your learning such as certificates, spreadsheets or PDFs by clicking on the ‘Choose files’ option which will open up a finder window to locate the document on your device.
Once you are happy with the information you have entered just click the ‘Add Reflective Note’ button and your item will be added to your CPD list. Please note that you can return to the item to make any necessary amendments when you wish to.
These items can then be uploaded from your CPD Tracker to either your FourteenFish or Clarity account from within the NB Dashboard or as a PDF summary based on a specified period which can then be forwarded or uploaded to your preferred appraisal toolkit or sent via email to your appraiser.

How do I add my learning and certificates to FourteenFish?

You can now connect and sync all of your CPD Tracker content to the FourteenFish appraisal toolkit within your NB Medical account in just a few simple steps. 
Connect to FourteenFish 
Once you are logged into your NB Dashboard account, if you go to the My CPD section you can then connect your NB Medical account to your FourteenFish Appraisal Toolkit by clicking on the ‘Toolkit Connections’ button shown below. 
You can then click on the option to connect to FourteenFish.
Once you have followed the link to the FourteenFish website & logged into or registered your FourteenFish account you will be asked if you are happy to link your NB Medical and the FourteenFish systems to share your information.  Once you click ‘Continue’ you will then be returned to the NB Medical Dashboard and the FourteenFish section will show that you are now connected to FourteenFish as per below.
Syncing content with FourteenFish 
To sync with the FourteenFish system you have two options.  You can either choose to sync items individually which can be done by simply pressing the ‘Sync’ icon on each CPD item within the NB Dashboard’s My CPD section when you have made changes to them as shown below.
Alternatively, you can choose to enable the Auto-sync functionality in the ‘Toolkit Connections’ section which updates the items automatically each time you save them in the My CPD section.  To enable this feature just select it underneath the FourteenFish connection panel in the My CPD section shown below… 
Please note that the Auto-sync feature only works for items created after the feature is enabled and all previously created items would need to be synced individually.

How do I add my learning and certificates to Clarity?

On the NB Medical Dashboard, you can connect your NB Account to your Clarity Appraisal Toolkit if you are a GP
Connect to Clarity
Once you are logged into your NB Dashboard account, if you go to the My CPD section you can then connect your NB Medical account to your Clarity Appraisal Toolkit by clicking on the ‘Toolkit Connections’ button show below…
The select to connect to your Clarity account.
Once you have followed the login process to Clarity & logged in using your Clarity account login on their website you will be asked to ‘Allow’ NB Medical and the Clarity systems to share your information.  Once you click ‘Allow’ you will then be returned to the NB Medical Dashboard and the section of the My CPD section where you should now see the ‘You are connected to Clarity’ message below that section.
Uploading to Clarity
The CPD Items you have in your NB Medical account need to be pushed to Clarity by you once you have linked your Clarity account.  The automated part of the process is the transfer of information and documents, but you need to advise the system which items need to be pushed to Clarity. 
There will now be an option for each CPD item to ‘Sync to Clarity’ and once an item is synced then it will show in the Clarity Continuous Improvement area within the Clarity Appraisal Toolkit.
Please note that once an item is uploaded to Clarity then you will be unable to make changes and re-upload in the NB Dashboard and App account.  You should make these changes in the Clarity account once the item has been uploaded.

Question 16

I have renewed my CPD modules but am unable to redo completed modules in the past. Can you reset?

Accepted Answer

Once you have completed a CPD Module you will be unable to retake that module until the module has been updated. We continue to review all of our modules and update them when possible to give you the latest available updates on each topic.Once the module has been updated you will see the option on the module to ‘Start new version’.  You can click on the ‘Not Completed Only’ filter at the top of the CPD Module menu to filter the available modules for you to complete.

How do I track my online booklet reading on the NB Dashboard?

Accepted Answer

You can track the topics you have read and the time you spent reading them in the Online Booklet section of the NB Dashboard. 
To do this you first need to enable the feature and consent to the system tracking your reading by going to your Account section by clicking that option in the menu at the top of the NB Dashboard.
Once selected the feature will automatically record the topic & time spent reading that topic in the system.  This then enables you to create a summary of this information which can be accessed by clicking the ‘Time Tracker’ button in the top menu on the NB Dashboard.  If you navigate to the Time Tracker then you will see all of your reading data listed with summary figures as well as shown below.
You can see above that there are options to select a date period and then create either a PDF, Excel spreadsheet or add both to a CPD Item in your My CPD list. Just select the dates and then click on the relevant option you would like to use.

Question 18

I'm getting a 'Connectivity Issues' error message when trying to log into the NB Dashboard.  Why is that?

Accepted Answer

This message can appear for a couple of reasons.One reason could be that you are using a connection or device that has a firewall that is blocking you from accessing our website. This is more common when using a workplace network and in this instance, you may need to check with the IT Administrator for that network/company that access to the NB Medical domain ‘dashboard.nbmedical.com’ is allowed.The other and more likely reason that you are unable to connect to the NB Dashboard domain is that you are using an older device that is no longer supported. For example, some Apple laptop/desktop devices may be limited to the Mac Operating System 10.11.6 which since the end of 2021 is no longer supported by Apple which basically means that security certificates are no longer being updated for that software.  Our advice in this circumstance is to make sure that your MacBook is as up-to-date as possible.  If it is and the device version is 10.11.6 then you may not be able to access the NB Dashboard and would be best off trying on an alternative device.Due to the updated security that websites are now implementing then you may find that more websites in the future that have updated their security on the server side could have this issue.

How do I add the NB Dashboard web app to my home screen on mobile devices?

In an effort to provide you with the most up-to-date experience, we have now moved our app over to be a web application which works with the same functionality as any other app but is now part of the NB Dashboard website.  Below are the instructions on how to install this on your mobile device's home screen.  This will ensure you have the latest functionality on our system.On Apple iOS Devices
To add the NB Dashboard as an easy-to-access link on your home screen you will need to set this up using the Safari browser on the device as other browsers will not let you do this on an iOS device.
Once you log into the NB Dashboard on your Safari browser then you will be prompted with some instructions on how to add the web app to your device's home screen. To do this just click on the Menu button as shown below (blue box with arrow pointing up)…
…then scroll down the menu and click on the ‘Add to home screen’ option as shown below.
You will now have an NB icon showing on your home screen which you can click into to access the NB Dashboard and all of your resources easily.
On Android Devices
Once you log into the NB Dashboard on your Chrome browser then you should be prompted with a pop-up window asking you to install the web app to your device's home screen. To do this just click the ‘Install’ button and the app will be added to your home screen.
If you do not see the pop-up window asking you to install then all you need to do is click on the browser menu (usually a three-dot icon in the top right-hand corner) and scroll down to the ‘Add to Home Screen’ option.
You will now have an NB icon showing on your home screen which you can click into to access the NB Dashboard and all of your resources easily.

How do I filter items in the Dashboard?

Accepted Answer

You can filter items across the NB Dashboard by using the ‘Sort & Filter’ function available on all applicable pages on the dashboard.If the option is available on that page you will see the Sort & Filter button available above and to the right hand side of the content as shown below in the Webinar section.
Click on the Sort & Filter button and you will see a pop up appear…
…here you will see all of the options for sorting & filtering the content on the section you are in.  You can sort alphabetically or by release(event) date.
There is a search box to filter the name of the event or an organisation and you can also filter by content type, date, amount of CPD credits or purchased items only.These options are highlighted below.
Once you have selected your options then you just need to click the Apply Filters button to apply the filters and you will then just see the filtered content.To clear the filters then just re-open the Sort & Filter section and select the Clear Filters option to deselect all filters.

What is the My List page?

If you want to add a book, webinar, blog, podcast or any other content on the Dashboard to read/view at a later date, you can do so with the My List page, located here or in the menu at the top of the NB Dashboard.There is an ‘Add to My List’ button on each item in the NB Dashboard that allows you to add that content to your My List page.  These items are then displayed in the My List section for ease of access when needed.

How do I pay?  Can I pay by invoice/bacs transfer?

Payment can be made by Visa/Mastercard online or by contacting customer services on 0191 603 1872 and we can take your payment over the telephone.  We do not accept payment via BACS or raise invoices for individual bookings.

My employer, CCG, Health Board have agreed to pay for my course.  Can I pay on invoice?

Accepted Answer

We do not raise invoices for individual bookings, we can take payment by Visa/Mastercard.  For group bookings of more than 10 delegates we will be happy to raise an invoice.

My card is about to expire. Where do I update my card details?

Accepted Answer

If your card is due to expire then you can log into your NB Medical website account and update your card details in the Subscription Details section. Just click on the ‘Update Details’ button in the Card Details field and enter your new card details.
 
Your next scheduled payment will then be taken from the new card details.

The access code does not work on your booking system/the link on the flyer does not open?

Accepted Answer

Please make sure that you are entering the booking code correctly without any empty characters at the start or the end.  Sometimes the copy & paste function can add these blank characters to the pasted text. Manually entering the code should resolve this but please make sure you match the code you have been provided.If you continue to have issues please try using an alternative browser to see if the issue persists and if it does then to contact us at hottopics@nbmedical.com or on 0191 603 1872.

How do I update my email – account details?

If you need to update your email address you can do so by logging into your NB Dashboard account and in the Overview page selecting the ‘Update my details’ option.  In here you can amend your email address and once you have entered the new email just click save.  You will now use this email address to log into your dashboard account.If you receive an error message when trying to update your details, please contact us at hottopics@nbmedical.com or on 0191 603 1872 as you have an existing account under this email address.  We will be able to merge these accounts together if required.

How do I amend my address details on my account?

To update your address just go to your NB Medical website account and add a new address to the ‘Addresses’ section.  Once added you can then choose the Primary address you want to use and delete any unnecessary addresses.  When making a purchase in future you can select the address you wish to use for each order but it will default to the primary address if you have more than one.

I am unable to attend the live or part of the live webinar – Can I access this at a later date and how?

Accepted Answer

Yes.  If you are unable to attend a live webinar or need to head off early don’t worry.  Our webinars come with 12 months on-demand access from the morning after the live webinar takes place so you can catch up or review any of the topics you missed. These webinars will have a Table of Contents so you can skip directly to what you need.

How do I ask a question while watching the live webinar?

In the webinar platform you will see in the menu bar a red Q&A icon.  Just select that option and enter your question into the submission box and then click the ‘Submit’ button to post your question to the NB Medical presenters and staff.
Your answer will appear in the same Q&A box that you sent it as a feed.  We do sometimes share questions that we believe are relevant with the wider audience but please note that these questions are anonymous so nobody in the audience will be able to see your name or contact information in the reply.
You can ask as many questions as you would like on the day but please be aware that we do receive a lot of questions of some webinars and it may not be possible to respond to every question.  The presenters will do their best to summarise the most prominent themes from the Q&A throughout the session.An example of how to do this can be found in the webinar guide…

I cannot find the quiz on the pre-recorded webinar.

When viewing the webinar on a computer the CPD Quiz for an Online Course webinar should be available on screen when you log in under the media player & slide views.  If you can’t see it then please go to the menu bar and click on the pink ‘CPD Quiz’ icon to bring this widget up on screen.
On a mobile device or tablet then you can access the CPD Quiz by selecting the menu bar and clicking on the pink ‘CPD Quiz’ icon to bring this widget up on screen.

What device can I use to view a webinar?

Below are the requirements for our webinar platform to view via your device's browser on both desktop and mobile devices.  As a general rule we advise you to update your device to the latest version of both the browser & operating systems where possible.  This is to help ensure that you are using a device that has the latest security certificates and features to enable you to have the smoothest viewing experience possible.

How do I navigate a pre-recorded/on demand webinar?

In the webinar platform, you have multiple options for navigating to specific segments of the on-demand webinar content.  Here is a video explaining the platform.
Your first option is to click and drag the orange disc to move the recording to a specific time in the webinar.
You can also use the skip forward and skip backwards buttons on the media player. Each skip button allows you to move the recording forward or backwards in 15-second increments per click.
Finally, you can navigate to a specific topic in the webinar simply by clicking the name of the topic in the table of contents.

Can I self-certify my certificate after watching a webinar?

When you have viewed a live webinar, the system will automatically generate a certificate shortly after the session has finished for you, but for on-demand viewing or online courses, you will need to self-certify your certificate.To do this you can navigate to the webinar on the NB Dashboard and as shown in the example below you can click on the ‘Self-certify’ button, note this will usually be on the final session in each webinar…
…you can then tick the checkbox to confirm you have viewed the webinar and click on the calendar dropdown to select the date you viewed the webinar.
Once you have clicked on the ‘Self-certify’ button it will add a CPD item and certificate to your CPD Tracker and automatically navigate you to that page.You will now see your item and can click on the Documents button where you will be able to download your certificate.
Your certificate can be downloaded individually for upload to an appraiser or as part of a CPD Summary between specific dates by clicking the 'Get Summary PDF' option at the top of the My CPD section. This summary will include any of the descriptions of the activities & reflective notes that you have added to your CPD items.

How do I clear cache/history?
