Course Description
Genomic medicine is no longer a remote and specialist concept; it is rapidly moving into everyday NHS practice. With genomics given a central role in the NHS 10 Year Plan and the ambition to transform healthcare through earlier diagnosis, prevention, and personalised treatment, primary care will be at the heart of this shift. But what does this actually mean for busy GPs now? In this practical, case-based webinar, Simon Curtis will be joined by Iain Turnbull (GP and Clinical Research Fellow at the University of Oxford) as well as Judith Hayward (GP in Bradford and GPwER in Genetics/Genomic Medicine with the Leeds Genomic Medicine Service) to explore what genomics means in real-world general practice.
We’ll focus on common high-impact conditions such as haemochromatosis and Lynch syndrome, alongside emerging areas including polygenic risk scores and the growing challenge of patients presenting with private genetic test results. Genomics can feel uncertain and complex, and for many GPs it represents a clear educational need. This session will cut through the complexity, clarify what you need to know today and provide a pragmatic framework for safe, confident practice in this exciting and evolving era of genomic medicine.
This webinar originally aired on Tuesday, 9th June 2026 and is available on demand.

Brilliant in every way! I like attending live when I can, but the on demand service is great, to fit it in with a busy family life.
